With sunshine and a good breeze forecast I was pleased when we woke early it was still, so we packed our pasties and coffee and biked to Landguard and had a lovely quiet hour watching the world go by :) Then when we got home at eleven I checked the landguard wind speed and it had started to fill so I loaded the trailor and headed to The Dip - carefully as it is broken :( Mag came for the ride so she could walk back. Roger Vickers was already out going well with 7.5 so I went with 7.8 - the smallest I have rigged for awhile !!! The wind was a bit light to the red and white bouy and then it was alot windier !!! but rougher :( I had some good runs sailing broad toward the shingle bar and then heading upwind through the choppy river mouth !!! You could make upwind easily so sailing broad was no problem :) The sail was getting a bit of a handfull so changed down to 7m which was ok if a fraction under as the wind eased. After my short broad runs I headed along way out to sea to go for some mile runs - I managed a 22 kt run and three others over 20 kts - not too bad in very challenging conditions. With the wind dropping I needed to rig bigger again but as I have sailed three days in a row decided to back up and go home. It would have been a 5 star day but it was one of the worst seas I have sailed in with chop on chop so 4 it is :) great to be out in the sunshine !!!
