The Met Office downgraded their forecast overnight and the wind was worrying light as I drove to Southend before sunrise. During my two hours of sailing, I had 8 attempts at getting going but 4 of them were immediately abandoned as I was dropping off the plane.

The wind angle was perfect for speed runs on the eastern course but the wind was just too light. I had 3 gentle runs with 10s averages in the mid-36's to mid-37's and one run where I was properly powered up. I have to say that one decent run just about saved the day since it was a good 10s / 100m / 250m.

Andy H moved heaven and earth to get time off work today but his best was a 32 knot peak. He missed the windy 15 minutes rescuing his bag and spare sail. :(

If anyone has a time machine, I'd like to pop back to Kirby...earlier this morning will do nicely. Thanks!
