Wild winds for the last few days. Almost excellent conditions on the sandbar except a little too tight for my taste, although some impressive peak speeds were achieved by some of the others. Very close to my PR but not quite.

My story: I think I'm one of the first to make it back to civilization after getting stuck in Astoria after the storm Sunday night took out roads, electricity, services (gas and food), everything. I thought I was lucky to be in a caravan on US30 out of Astoria, with a lumberjack in the car at the lead. Each time we came across a downed tree, we would stop the caravan, he would pull out his chain saw and cut up the tree and then we all would help move the tree sections off the road. At one tree we found some cars stuck on the other side. Oops, there is a mud and rock slide ahead blocking the road. We headed back to Astoria where I was lucky to find a room to stay in utter darkness. This morning there was significant progress on cleaning US30, so I was able to get out and back to civilization and a hot cup of coffee!
