Wednesday 30th August - Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington – sunny periods.

Foil – 18.56 knot max, 17.04 knot ave, 6.41 knot hour, 14.30 knot mile, 27.45 km., 13.55 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Sailworks Retro 7.5.

With a foilable breeze from the WNW, a near midday high water and some sunshine I decided to head over to Levington which is only 6 miles from my house. I dropped Mag off in Trimley on the way through for her daily walk and arrived at the Marina at 9.30, snapping a few pics of the boats to send to the local TV weather. This direction is OK on the Orwell being slightly off but blowing down the river from the right and plenty of water too. The foil board was quickly on the little beach and with the breeze looking marginal I rigged my 7.5 even though big sail foiling is not my favourite but needs must! A large dredger was coming up from Ipswich and actually turned right in front of the marina, a bit tight between the moored yachts! On the water just before 10.30 I had a couple of hours playing hunt the gust, I had some nice runs down towards Felixstowe docks but there were also s few lulls but never mind, it was lovely being out just me a few terns diving and several yachts with some top clouds too. With the wind going even more patchy it was time to call it a day, I had been out over two hours and got snapped by fellow windsurfer Mark Swain out on a yacht:) Then as I was packing up Mrblueskys a fellow photographer who sends pics in to the weather everyday came up to say hello:) Then shower and home by 1.30, no wind for a few days but then we might get a run of wind from the east?
